Man dead following motorcycle crash on H-1 Freeway

KALIHI (HawaiiNewsNow) – A 44-year-old man is dead following a single motorcycle crash on the H-1 Freeway in the Kalihi area.
The crash happened around 1:05 a.m. on the H-1 westbound near the Middle Street overpass.
Police said the helmeted motorcyclist was speeding westbound when he lost control, traveled into the shoulder and struck a guardrail. Subsequently, he was thrown onto the road.
Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
HPD said speed appears to be a contributing factor of this crash but it’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
This is the 36th traffic fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 44 at the same time in 2023.
